Just a little reminder that all matters of your daily living is fodder for the writer, whether you’re reading, resting, or eating chocolate. It’s all part of the process. Write what you know….and that’s plenty, friend Write what you know….and that’s plenty, friend. If you want to write but don’t know where to begin, look around. Your whole, seam bursting, sacred life is buzzing with stories for you to share. Try your darndest not to be underwhelmed or get overwhelmed by it all at once. Some the strongest, most beautiful, horrifying, truest stories you’ll ever hear are the ones you’ve lived yourself. Don’t discount any of it. It’s all ripe for the picking, if you want it to be. Gather your ideas, then take to the notes. Do a timed brain dump and release what you’ve collected: catch and release those ideas and then start to write. Listen to what they want to tell you, what they want to become. Your life has plenty to keep you busy, just mine the details and let them guide you. Share with me what you find on your treasure hunt! Stepping into your purpose takes bravery. It tak Stepping into your purpose takes bravery. It takes a solid yes. It takes declaring no. It takes letting go. Sometimes it takes a weary, guttural battle cry and sometimes it requires quieter means, a slower surrender to that still small voice. Your purpose, more than likely, isn’t something you have to search all that far for. It stands in front of you, fluttering all around you. It flies in the face of your everyday. Seeing it takes great attention to detail. You’ll need to ask a lot of hard questions and answer them only with truth. And you’ll need to let go of many things, mindsets, hindrances that repress your growth. If you want to fly, but feel fastened to your current reality, what is holding you back? Do you know what you need to let go of to unloose your wings, to do what you were made to do, to fly? Is fear louder than your faith? They can and do co-exist, but which is louder for you right now? Which is doing all of the talking? Maybe you have high expectations that are keeping you held down, too afraid to begin? Or too low of expectations: why dream so high? There are millions of things to keep you rooted to a place outside of your purpose. Get real about what makes you soar, and loosen yourself, let your wings show you the way that God has made for you. These are the days. It’s a cooling down of 104° These are the days. It’s a cooling down of 104°, a reprieve from the 114° yesterday. Since summer says she’s not done yet (seriously, summer just really starts ramping up in September these days🔥), I set out to wrap her (blazing hot) embrace around the memories we’ve made this August. My first baby turned 25 ♥️, he was home all summer with us🙏🏼 (the first time he’s spent his actual birthday in our home in 8 years: how?). We stayed cool in the pool and ice cream, late night episodes of Impractical Jokers and 80’s/90s flicks. 🍿 Boys booted us gals upstairs so they could have their “Boys Movie Nights” on weekends. That’s ok, we love watching Grimm, just her and I, with our sweet treats🍨 We experienced the drive-in all together for once (because that’s what it is, right? An experience). 🚐📽 We caught up with cousins after years of being apart, and we sure made up for it🙏🏼 We read past our bedtimes and we’re all the better for it📚 We spent ourselves in summer, soaked in her slowness and restored in her gift of time. We said “see you soon” and gave an almost embarrassing amount of hugs to our oldest so he knew we meant business as he left to go back for his ✨FINAL semester in school!!!! Summer is a story all its own and I have been blessed to see how it unfolded this year. I don’t want to say goodbye yet, but also, where in all things holy is fall? 🥵 How was your summer, are you still in it (like us)? Or just beginning?
